David J. Ickovics, 29
Senior Managing Director
Charles Dunn Co. Inc.
Los Angeles
In 10 years, Ickovics would like to own and
manage his own real estate portfolio and is
buying one property per year to meet that goal. Until then, however, he is keeping busy as an office and retail investment sales
broker for the Charles Dunn Co. Ickovics typically works both
sides of the transactions, which tend to be off-market. Among his
closed deals are the $62.5-million sale of a trophy retail portfolio
in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, CA and the $40.8-million
acquisition of a landmark mixed-use project in the Los Angeles
submarket of Little Tokyo.
All of this activity led Charles Dunn Co. to give Ickovics several awards in the past six years, including Rookie of the Year,
Largest Deal of the Year, Broker of the Year and Largest
Commission of the Year. He is also a top producer for the firm
and a member of its Millionaire’s Club. Outside of work, Ickovics
is involved with the local Children’s Hospital, the Jewish National
Fund and Guide Dogs of America.
Melika Jahangiri, 27
Senior Investment Advisor
Sperry Van Ness
Los Angeles
As a senior investment advisor for Sperry
Van Ness, Jahangiri focuses on the sale of
apartment, land and development projects in the Greater Los
Angeles area. She is consistently ranked among the firm’s top 100
brokers nationwide, is in the top 10 for the region and has received
SVN’s Achiever Award for outstanding sales. One of Jahangiri’s
deals achieved the highest price per unit in the last five years for a
non-rent-controlled asset in Panorama City, and in the past nine
months, she has completed more than $31 million of sales.
“I have always liked the idea of being able to take something
that may have been overlooked and turning it into a project that
will make the area better and, in turn, make my client’s investment worthwhile,” says Jahangiri. That altruism extends outside
of the workplace as well; she is a volunteer at Aviva Family and
Children Services, Gramercy Place Shelter, Lankershim Social
Service Center and other community organizations.
Jonathan A. Keyser, 33
Principal
CresaPartners
Phoenix
Keyser had always been interested in real
estate, but didn’t cement his decision to
enter the business until Cushman & Wakefield gave him a personality profile that compared him to the firm’s top performers
nationally. “I matched up with 16 out of the 17 criteria, which
reinforced the fact that my personality and skills were suited for
this business,” he relates. “I liked the fact that there was no limit on
how successful one could be.” By 2012, Keyser hopes to rank as
one of the top producing tenant rep brokers in the country. He
would also like to have a 15-plus-member team and accumulate a
$20-million personal investment portoflio by the age of 40.
It seems that Keyser, who is among the youngest principals at
CresaPartners, is on his way to meeting those goals. As co-manager
of the Phoenix office, he serves as a corporate real estate consultant
to more than 100 clients on local, national and international deals.
He is also president-elect of the Arizona Business Leaders and is on
the board of several other local business organizations.
Aaron C. Liebert, 31
SVP, Area Managing Partner
JPI
McLean, VA
Since joining JPI in 1997, Liebert quickly
climbed the ranks of the company, rising
from market research analyst to his current role of SVP and area
managing partner for the mid-Atlantic. He identifies and controls
land, conceptual design and project entitlements for apartment
complexes in the region, managing a 15-member team. Liebert, a
LEED and green design expert at JPI, has worked on 22 projects
totaling 6,600 units around Metro Washington, DC.
Several of Liebert’s projects have won honors, including the
Builders Choice award and NAHB Community of the Year
award in 2003 and the NAHB Pillars Best Garden Apartment
Community of the Year in 2007. The executive has also
received in-house recognition, such as Deal Maker of the Year in
2006 and the Ring of Honor award in 2005.
Alvin Mansour, 25
Senior Director, National Retail Group
and Net-Lease Properties Group
Marcus & Millichap
San Diego
Mansour is one of Marcus & Millichap Real
Estate Investment Services Inc.’s more active retail brokers, handling multi-tenant and single-tenant net-leased assets across the US,
as well as sale-leasebacks and portfolio dispositions. In his five
years in the business, he has handled more than $1 billion of sales,
arranging 54 deals worth $216 million in 2007 alone. As a result,
he was the firm’s top multi-tenant retail agent last year and was
ranked among the top five retail agents nationally in 2005, 2006
and 2007. He is a member of the company’s Chairman’s Club,
Chairman’s Circle of Excellence and the Seven-Figure Club.
According to Mansour, he was born and raised in the real
estate business. “I actually used to call brokers and study comps
when I was in high school,” he says.
