Senior Vice President
Grubb & Ellis Co.
Rosemont, IL
Over a 25-year tenure, Paulson has assisted
clients in office and industrial relocations,
renegotiations of existing leases, the disposition and acquisition of real estate assets and
development of strategic real estate programs.
Paulson led a portfolio restructuring over the
course of the past 12 months that aggressively renegotiated 40
industrial and manufacturing leases nationwide. This included
portfolio analysis development and implementation of the portfolio restructure strategy. A current board member at the
Brainerd Community Center, she has strived to raise funds to
transform the former Libertyville Township High School into a
community center. “The one thing that hasn’t changed in our
business is that it’s a local business,” says Paulson. “Technology
has made it much easier to communicate with our clients,
gather and maintain information and do business overall, but
nothing takes the place of local experts who know their markets,
are part of those communities and can complement what I do
for my national clients.”
ONAY PAYNE
SVP and Assistant Fund Manager
ING Clarion Partners
Dallas
Payne is the assistant fund manager of ING
Clarion’s Lion Mexico Fund, a $650-million
closed-end equity vehicle focused exclusively
on Mexico. In that capacity, she leads the LMF
team in the articulation of its overall fund strategy, with a particular focus on risk philosophy and
return expectations, sector and geographic allocation, partner
diversification and foreign currency hedging. Payne is an alumna
of the Robert Toigo Foundation, whose mission is to change the
face of finance by inspiring more minorities to pursue careers in
business and finance. She has served as a member of the planning
committee of the Foundation’s Annual Alumni Investment
Conference and is a mentor of Toigo Foundation fellows. Payne
is proof that the arts and finance can mix, as she is a lead dancer
with Bandan Koro Dallas African Dance and Drum Ensemble.
Payne believes that in her generation “women will occupy greater
positions of influence, and we will see more women expand out of
traditionally accepted female roles such as marketing and capital
raising and into more traditionally male-dominated roles such as
portfolio managers and CFOs. The glass ceiling is a lot thinner
than it used to be.”

Executive Vice President
Colliers International
Chicago
With 30 years as an industrial and commercial real estate specialist under her belt,
Reich has inked 40 million square feet of transactions valued in excess of $700 million in recent
years. She is active in the international networks of SIOR—for
which she is the current president—and at Colliers International,
which assist her efforts in acquisitions, dispositions and build-to-suit transactions. Among her client list are firms such as DSC
Logistics, Rockefeller Group Development Corp., Lennar
Properties, AMB Realty and Allianz of America. In addition to
her role at SIOR, Reich has served as president of Chicago Real
Estate Women and the Association of Industrial Real Estate
Brokers. While she has seen significant improvement in the participation of women in the commercial real estate field during
her career, Reich believes more should be done to diversify the
business. “In any given negotiation, there are more women at
the table in the various disciplines, be it a client, broker, architect, lender or attorney,” she states. “Our industry could benefit
if we proactively recruited qualified people from a broad base of
candidates. Diversity should be a goal.”
TERRI WARREN REYNOLDS

separate REITs, which command $530 million in capital and $1 billion of common
stock, amid multiple properties. She is a
member of Attorneys Serving the Community
Women, which helps support local nonprofit
agencies serving women, children and families. She says,
“Historically, real estate professions have been male-dominated. Although men are certainly creative thinkers, women
can bring another perspective to the table that complements
and energizes traditionally masculine approaches while promoting more outside-the-box thinking.”
