Center, which Tighe’s client Conde Nast
will anchor in a game-changing lease for
one million square feet. She has been
chief executive officer of the New York
Tri-State Region at CB Richard Ellis since
2002, overseeing 2,125 employees. Tighe
is a six-time winner of the Deal of the Year
awards bestowed annually by the Real
Estate Board of New York, the industry
association that in 2009 named her its first
female chairman. “There are a number of
women who could have been named; I was
just fortunate enough to be the one,”
Tighe told GlobeSt.com in 2009 after the
appointment. “But it’s a really a testament
to the industry’s recognition of women
playing an important part, and also its
commitment to our playing an important
part.” In June of this year, Tighe became
the first woman to receive the Urban
Leadership Award from the NYU Schack
Institute of Real Estate. The Wall Street
Journal wrote in 2005, “There is an exceed-
ingly small club of women who have man-
aged to move to the top of the brokerage
business. That club’s most prominent
member is Mary Ann Tighe.”
