INVESTMENT INTO US COULD TOP $5B
In this special report by international bureau chief Robert
Carr, GlobeSt.com puts the global turmoil into perspective,
especially as it impacts foreign investment into the US.
Globally, “listed companies may delay new equity raising or
IPOs and third-party funds are less able to attract new investments,” says DTZ’s Hans Vrensen (left).
SPECIAL SERVICING RAISES INDUSTRY CONCERNS
After commercial mortgages took a nose-dive during the credit crisis, the role of
special servicing is continuing to increase. But given the
large influx of loans and ownership changes, many in the
industry are concerned about the fate of CMBS. So reports
Northeast reporter Jacqueline Hlavenka. “Investors are
becoming increasingly skittish over potential conflicts
between existing CMBS borrowers and the ownership interest in the special services,” says Stephanie Petosa of Fitch.

ELEMENTS OF A ZERO TRANSACTION
What’s a Zero Transaction? Blogger Jonathan Hipp (left)
explains it all. A “Zero investment is a real estate investment
that provides a relatively inexpensive source of depreciation
and interest expense to offset passive income from other
real estate investments,” he explains. But that’s not all. Turn
to his blog to get more.
