Commercial real estate continues to be an investment of choice for savvy
investors looking for solid relative yields coupled with a hedge against
inflation inherent with owning hard assets. The national economy
continues its slow, uneven recovery, and commercial real estate is more
than keeping pace. Unburdened by massive supply “overhangs” that were
typical of past recoveries, our industry finds itself in the enviable position
of being space constrained in certain first-recovery markets. Our economic
transition will remain uneven, but the upward trend will continue, driven by
the most robust industries and in certain cases, corporate CEOs finally
moving forward on the hiring front in a more significant fashion.
