ERIC A. FERRIELLO, 32
He was just 18 when he received his agent’s
license, went on to close his first residential
loan at 20 and earned his broker’s license
two years later. While working as the first-
ever director of sustainability solutions at
CBRE, where he was also the youngest member of the Global
Sustainability Steering Committee, Ellis saw a demand for software
to streamline the collection of non-financial data for energy, sus-
tainability and corporate responsibility reporting. Seizing the
opportunity, Ellis self-funded the launch of Measurabl in 2013.
Since then, the sustainability software company has grown to 25
team members and achieved record-breaking market adoption;
today its database houses 4. 4 billion square feet of real estate repre-
senting 20,000 properties in 65 countries, worth over $1 trillion.
Recently, Measurabl partnered with ULI Greenprint and is contrib-
uting to the formation of San Diego’s 2030 District. Ellis is a mem-
ber of the City of San Diego Funds Commission and Sustainability
Accounting Standards Board. His short-term plans involve growing
Measurabl’s adoption to 10 billion square feet, but Ellis would ulti-
mately like to grow it into a publicly traded company, while helping
sustainability data become just as important as financial data is to
the operations and bottom lines of real estate firms.
